Honouring Tradition,
Regenerating the Future
Regenerating the Future
My parents, David and Jane Dragon, raised a large family clothed in furs from their trapline. My mother (Setsuné, grandmother in Dënesųłiné) made our hats, mittens, moccasins, and parkas. She has sewn with furs and hides throughout her life. We were outdoor kids who were never cold in temperatures that often fell to -40°C. When I became a mother, it was natural for me to dress my children in fur.
Warmth was never meant to be disposable. Somewhere along the way, it became accepted that staying warm meant buying batteries, opening packets, and throwing things away. We began treating warmth as something to consume instead of something to care for.
Your body already creates warmth. Nature already knows how to protect it. For generations, people learned from the land, working with it rather than trying to outsmart it. Because being warm isn't just about temperature. It's about staying present long enough to experience life comfortably, even in the cold.
We believe the future of warmth will come from a deeper understanding of what has always worked. That's why we create products that preserve warmth instead of manufacturing it, that are made to last for years instead of hours, and that invite you to spend more time where life happens, on the trail, at the rink, around the fire, or beside the people you love.Â
Aurora Heat was founded in 2015. What began as a practical solution has grown into an Indigenous and Canadian enterprise rooted in responsibility. Each pelt is used fully, crafted with respect and pride by Indigenous women in our community.Â
With gratitude to the Land and to Tsa, the beaver, our relationship with nature shapes everything we do.

As northern peoples, furs are important for our survival throughout long, cold winters. Fur is one of Nature’s most useful gifts, and was always meant to help us keep warm and live our lives.
